Netflix Appreciation

(originally posted September 2010)

Throughout these past couple years, two business have earned the Raging Rhone Super Good Deal Award. Those two businesses are Netflix and Little Caesar’s. The reason I chose Little Caesar’s is because they came out of nowhere (after going into hibernation or something) with the super good deal of a large pizza for just $5. That $5 pizza has fed me and my friends many, many times, and even in the bad economy they continue to offer the same price. However, I must mention that lately their pizza seems to be getting worse. It seems like they’re using super cheap ingredients now. But, it was good while it lasted, so they get the award.

One of the best deals of the 2000’s.

Next, I must talk about Netflix. Oh, what a wonderful service this is. I don’t know how they do it for such a low price. For just $9 a month we get to rent as many DVD’s as we want, and also watch unlimited movies and TV shows through Netflix Instant Streaming. You can use the instant streaming on your computer, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and some TV’s and Blu-Ray player’s even have Netflix built in. Netflix is actually so good that we don’t even feel the need to have cable. Let me just list some of the movies and show’s I’ve seen through Netflix’s brilliant service:

The Office Seasons 1-6 - I’ve never laughed so hard from a show. This is my favorite TV show of all-time, all thanks to Netflix.
Lost- During season 3 it got a little outrageous, but still, I was able to watch it thanks to Netflix.
Shutter Island- A great movie that I got on DVD from Netflix.
Arrested Development- Another funny and clever show that I found on on instant streaming on my 360.
Felon- A movie I just watched today. Never heard of it until I saw it on Netflix. It’s very intense and will make you think about Prison in a whole different way.
Dolls- a movie about Dolls coming to life and killing people. I never thought I’d find that interesting, but dag nabbit I did on Netflix!

That’s just a few of the things I’ve seen so far, and they’re adding new movies all the time. So, I salute you Netflix. One of the best services of the 2000’s. Keep it up.

Good Job.

Bonus: I’ll throw in Redbox as an Honorable Mention. Movies for $1 a night is genius. I’m surprised no one thought of that sooner. Too bad they practically drove Hollywood Video out of business. But, then again, maybe it’s not too bad. Because Hollywood Video didn’t offer movies for $1 a day. Oops.
